Faces of Caliber: Corey Oswald on Building People and Making a Lasting Impact

Corey Oswald has spent most of his career in construction, working across wood frame and high-rise projects and taking on increasing responsibility along the way. After years with larger organizations, he reached a point where he wanted his work to have a more direct impact on both the projects and the people around him.

For Corey, the shift was not about scale or title. It was about cause and effect. He saw a chance to contribute in a way that felt more personal, where his experience could support teams more closely and help shape how teams work together.

“I wanted to be somewhere I could have a real impact on the people around me.”

Corey started in the industry straight out of high school, working with his uncle before moving into superintendent roles. Out of all the projects he worked on, he looks back the most on the construction of Olympic Village. Not just for the size of the build, but for the environment it created. Long hours, complex coordination, real responsibility, and a strong sense of team defined that time and left a lasting impression.

That sense of responsibility has stayed with him. As a general superintendent, Corey’s days are rarely predictable. He moves between sites, works with multiple teams and trades, and carries the weight of decisions that affect schedules, budgets, and people. Much of that work happens behind the scenes, but it requires consistency, accountability, and the ability to keep people aligned as projects move through challenges and change.

“There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with the role, and it’s not always visible.”

At the core of Corey’s approach is a focus on people. He believes strong teams are built through care, consistency, communication, and trust. Much of what motivates him is supporting others, helping them grow, and creating an environment where people feel confident in their work and supported by those around them.

For Corey, his ‘why’ is not a single moment or achievement. It’s found in providing for his family, seeing his team succeed, and knowing he is where he is meant to be. Corey is focused on developing the people he works with so that teams become stronger over time and projects benefit from deeper experience and shared leadership.

“I get the most satisfaction from seeing people grow and succeed.”

Family and community play a big role in how Corey views his career. Most evidently, with his daughter also working at Caliber, Corey gets a closer view of how the work environment he helps shape carries through to the people closest to him. Seeing his daughter grow, succeed, and enjoy her work has changed how he experiences his own role. It’s brought a greater sense of balance and pride to his day-to-day.

“Seeing my daughter succeed has changed how I experience my work.”

To hear more from Corey in his own words, watch the full video below. It offers a deeper look at his journey, his approach to his work, and what he brings to Caliber’s team.

Underneath Corey’s people-focused approach is a steady sense of responsibility toward the work itself. The projects he leads are built on consistency, accountability, and trust. By staying present, supporting his teams, and keeping people aligned, Corey helps create environments where projects can move forward with confidence, even through challenges and complexity.
