Case Study: Delivering Purpose-Built Rentals Through BC Builds
The housing market is in a tough spot right now, and a lot of people are feeling it. At Caliber, we care about this work because these are our own communities. We live here, our families live here, and we want to help make things better in a real and practical way. The video below introduces our newest non market housing project as we break ground. It gives a look into why this work matters to us and what it means to start moving things forward on site.
Why Non-Market Housing Matters
Many people are finding it harder to access housing. Families, seniors, front line workers, and newcomers are all feeling the pressure as costs rise and options shrink. That's a big part of why non-market housing is important to our team. These types of projects bring stability and help people stay connected to the neighbourhoods they know. For Caliber, this isn't just another build. It ties back to our commitment to Build What Matters and to focus on projects that support people and communities in a meaningful way.
The project came together fast. The bid went live and our team had thirty days to respond. The Township of Langley was eager to pave the way in this type of build and be at the frontlines ahead of other municipalities. Through a partnership with Sitelines Architecture, we were able to move fast and pull together a set of plans that would meet the Township’s design guidelines and fit naturally into the surrounding neighbourhoods. It was a fast, intense process, but it showed how aligned everyone was on the goal. Move quickly, stay practical, and design something that works for real people.
Working With BC Builds
A big part of this project’s momentum comes from the relationship with Lisa Helps. There is strong value alignment between her and our team. She approaches her role with a hunger to get projects moving and a mindset that feels very similar to how we operate at Caliber. She understands how our business works and what it takes to keep projects moving without getting bogged down. She knows how to navigate issues before they become roadblocks, and that proactive energy has made a real difference on this project.
We’ve also refined our messaging to communicate more clearly with clients, trade partners, and team members. We’re highlighting what sets us apart: taking responsibility and striving for excellence in everything we do.

These additions will bring energy and convenience to the area and support the surrounding community.
